About Robert Hall & Associates

Robert Hall & Associates (RHA) has been California’s most trusted tax firm since 1971, serving over 10,000 clients annually. But we’re more than just numbers—we’re a people-first company with a strong culture rooted in our values: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Development, and Empathy. These values shape how we support one another, care for our clients, and grow together as a team. We value transparency, celebrate wins, and genuinely invest in the well-being and success of our people.

About the Role

We are seeking a high-integrity, detail-oriented Tax Associate who is as comfortable working with numbers as they are with people. In this role, you’ll not only ensure that client tax returns are accurate and compliant, but you’ll also play a key part in creating a smooth, supportive client experience.

This is a dynamic position that requires both technical precision and emotional intelligence. You’ll guide clients through the process of gathering their documents, help them understand their filing requirements, and provide clarity on complex tax matters. • Work with clients to organize and collect necessary tax documentation.
  • Provide support to clients through the tax filling process.
  • Assist clients in responding to IRS or state notices, audits, collections, and related issues.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to explain tax requirements and address concerns.
  • Support the team during peak filing seasons, maintaining both speed and accuracy.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative duties as necessary to support the office.
  • Ensure all returns are filed on time and in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Bring strong integrity, professionalism, and a client-first mindset.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pay close attention to detail and accuracy in all your work.
  • Can prioritize and manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Use emotional intelligence and people skills to make clients feel understood and supported

A plus if you have...

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Maintain a valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).
  • Are an Enrolled Agent or actively pursuing EA status.
  • CTEC License.
  • Bookkeeping experience
  • Are familiar with QuickBooks software and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Offer bilingual communication skills
  • Can translate complex financial information into clear, client-friendly language.

Why This Role Matters

As a Tax Associate, you are on the front lines of tax preparation and compliance. The accuracy and care you bring to each return not only protect clients from errors and penalties but also build their confidence and trust in our firm. By supporting clients through document collection, filing, and even IRS or state correspondence, you help relieve the stress of tax season and create a positive experience. Your role bridges technical tax work with human connection, making you essential to both client satisfaction and the firm’s reputation for excellence.
