Industrial Machine Mechanic (Field Service & Shop Technician)

As part of the global REDEX Group, we design, manufacture, and service cutting-edge Precision Rolling Mills (PRM) and Strip Processing Technology (SPT) systems. Our equipment is at the forefront of industries ranging from automotive and aerospace to green energy and electronics.

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Industrial Machine Mechanic to support our growing customer base. This is a unique role combining hands-on technical field work with dedicated precision component rebuilding at our state-of-the-art facility in Ocean Township, New Jersey.

No experience with rolling mills? No problem. We are fully committed to investing in our team. If you possess solid mechanical and automation fundamentals, we will provide comprehensive, specialized training on our proprietary technologies and machinery software.

The Role: A 50/50 Split

This position offers a diverse and engaging work environment split evenly between field operations and our local New Jersey headquarters:

  • Up to 50% North American Travel: You will travel to customer sites across North America the US to assist with commissioning new machinery, making adjustments, and troubleshooting field issues on-site.
  • 50% - 75% In-Shop Service (Ocean Township, NJ): When not traveling, you will work at our local headquarters. Your focus will be on diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding high-precision components (such as gearboxes, leveling systems, and backing assemblies) shipped back to us by our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical & Commissioning Support

  • Install, assemble, and commission new precision rolling mills and strip processing machinery at customer facilities.
  • Perform mechanical alignments, adjustments, and calibrations on high-precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures, wear patterns, and operational inefficiencies.

Electrical & Controls Support

  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical layouts.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting on machine control circuits, sensors, and drive systems.
  • Install or replace basic electrical components, cabling, and hardware as required during maintenance or rebuilds.

Software & Automation Interaction

  • Interface with Allen Bradley or Siemens automation engineering software run diagnostics, test system operations, and update parameters.
  • Assist remote engineering teams by identifying software-reported faults and testing system responses.

Shop Repairs & Rebuilds

  • Tear down, inspect, and rebuild high-precision mechanical components shipped to Ocean, NJ.
  • Document inspection findings, wear, and completed repair steps to maintain clear service histories.

What We Are Looking For

  • Basic Mechanical Aptitude: Strong fundamental mechanical troubleshooting skills; experience with hand tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers), and reading assembly drawings.
  • Basic Electrical Knowledge: Comfort working around low-voltage and control circuitry; ability to use a multimeter and read simple electrical schematics.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfort utilizing laptops, interacting with proprietary software, and navigating digital control systems to perform basic diagnostics.
  • Road Ready: Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time within North America.
  • Eagerness to Learn: A strong desire to learn highly specialized equipment, accept feedback, and undergo structured technical training.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work comfortably in industrial environments.
