Location: Cathedral Health Care Center - Jasper, IN
Schedule: Part-Time | 1pm - 7pm varying days and weekends
Cathedral Health Care Center is seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility team. In this role, you will assist in conducting and supporting resident activities under the direction of the Director of Activities while helping meet the emotional, recreational, and social needs of our residents.
Position Overview
The Activities Assistant is responsible for ensuring residents' emotional, recreational, and social needs are met on an individual basis.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and conducting activity programs as directed.
  • Ensure residents' emotional, recreational, and social needs are met and maintained.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as writing letters, making phone calls, and registering to vote.
  • Maintain records of resident participation and progress in activities.
  • Assist with mail delivery, escort residents to activity programs, and support flower/plant and pet/fish care within the facility.
  • Assist in preparation of the monthly newsletter, fundraising efforts, and morning announcements over the P.A. system.
  • Direct or carry out activity programs that provide entertainment, exercise, relaxation, creative expression, and social interaction.
  • Provide craft supplies and supervise residents during activities.
  • Encourage residents to participate and engage in crafts, painting, and other creative programs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in long-term care or working with elderly or disabled individuals preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
