Job description

Summary:      Assistant Buyer will assist senior in buying, strategic sourcing, replenishment, contract, and cost improvements.  Assist in selection of suppliers, maintains cost accuracy, and procures all materials and services for the organization. Assistant buyer will lead all confirmations and manage daily exceptions/rejections in the EDI site.

This position will report to the Director of Supply Chain while also reporting to the Lead Senior Buyer and supporting tall of the Senior Buyers daily.

Education:     1-2 years’ experience as an assistant buyer/clerk in healthcare/or relative supply chain experience/ and or relevant 2–4-year college business degree.

Licensure:  None

Experience: 1-2 years’ experience as an assistant buyer/clerk in healthcare/or relative supply chain experience/ and or relevant 2–4-year college business degree.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with acceptable supply chain and buying procedures.
  • Basic level of Excel, Microsoft office, and system skills.  Knowledge and ability of buying system, GPO site, and EDI management system.
  • Good communication and analytical skills required.  Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
  • Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills and sense of urgency when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers
  • Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams.
  • Minimal supervisions with motivation and self-direction to attain daily and annual tactical and strategic goals.
