Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect and maintain laboratory documents
• Maintain laboratory equipment, including scheduled maintenance and calibration procedures; request service for lab equipment if not functioning properly 1
• Receive NIH specific training on laboratory safety and waste and conduct laboratory safety and waste in accordance to NIH policies for the lab 4
• Organize, monitor and prepare purchase requests to purchase laboratory supplies and reagents for NIH approval through data entry in the POTS system 2
• Carry out laboratory procedures according to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices GLP 5
• Assist with the production and updating of laboratory SOPs
• Coordinate work and staff to ensure all need, expectations and timelines are met 3
• Providing guidance and mentor new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment, application of techniques, laboratory protocols and NIH required training
• Carry out experiments and record accurate observations; maintain records; summarize results; participate in laboratory meetings
• Perform mouse handling, injections, euthanasia and maintain the mousecolony
• Maintain cell culture
• Carry out molecular biology techniques such as RNADNAprotein extraction, ELISA, RT-PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry
• Work products and documents related to maintaining laboratory equipment, including scheduled maintenance and calibration procedures; request service for lab equipment if not functioning properly.
• Work products and documents related to organizing, monitoring and preparing purchase requests to purchase laboratory supplies and reagents for NIH approval through data entry in the POTS system.
• Work products and documents related to collecting and maintaining laboratory documents; manage laboratory safety and waste in accordance with NIH policies for the laboratory.
• Work products and documents related to carrying out laboratory procedures according to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Work products and documents related to assisting with the production and updating of laboratory SOPs.
• Work products and documents related to receiving and processing human and biological samples.
• Work products and documents related to carrying out molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA/protein extraction, ELISA, RT-PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemistry; maintain cell culture.
• Work products and documents related to performing mouse handling, injections, euthanasia and manage and maintain the mouse colony. - Ad-Hoc Work products and documents related to providing guidance and mentoring new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment, application of techniques, laboratory protocols and NIH required training.
• Work products and documents related to carrying out experiments and recording accurate observations; maintain records; summarize results; participate in laboratory meetings.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology or related field
• Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
• Experience with NIH POTS and MS Office Suite
• Experience with mouse models or cell cultures
• Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
• Skilled creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Experience with RNA/DNA/protein extraction, ELISA, RTPCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff
• Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
