Our experienced scientists provide the highest quality results coupled with segment leading expediency and flexible solutions to meet the specific needs of our clients. The Animal Care Laboratory Technician will perform animal husbandry duties and have responsibility for the overall welfare of a variety of laboratory animals. What you will be doing:Responsible for the humane care and treatment of all species within the care unit.Provide routine care consisting of feeding, watering, and cage and room cleaning.Provide restraint and handling and perform species identification and randomization.Perform and collect various study requirements such as observations, food and water consumption, and body weight, as required.Maintain support areas and supplies for laboratory resources.Provide facilities sanitation and maintenance.Maintain pertinent records in compliance with SOPs, USDA, FDA, and AAALAC International regulations and guidelines.Maintain study support areas and procedure rooms, keeping them clean, stocked, and ready for use.May assist with various lab techniques such as oral and IV administrations.May participate or assist in the conduct of studies as needed.Assist the clinical veterinarian in physical examination.Perform other duties as assigned. The Requirements of the Position:High School Diploma or equivalentStrong oral and written communication skillsAttention to detail and accuracy in workAbility to work under specific time constraints to meet deadlinesBasic computer skills familiarity with Microsoft Office SuiteComputer skills, including the ability to learn a new systemFlexibility with work schedule and ability to work extended hours beyond the normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays; sometimes on short notice.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and type at a computer.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.Employees must be able to lift/hold up to 50 pounds, move up to 700–1600-pound cages/pallets on wheels; this includes equipment and large and small species.Walking or standing for extended periods of time.Frequent bending and stooping.Frequent repetitive movement of hands, arms and shoulders.Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally wears protective clothing (googles, face shield, surgical mask, cap, gloves, scrubs, boots and ear protection).Occasionally works with biohazards and sharps.Works with species (small, medium and/or large) with risk of exposure to allergens and/or zoonotic diseases.While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, unpleasant odors, and wet, humid and/or extreme temperature conditions.The noise level in the work environment is usually low and occasionally moderate.Join the Attentive Science team and grow your career with us while contributing to the discovery and development of life saving remedies.
