JOB SUMMARY

The VP of Institutional Advancement (IA) is responsible for sustainably advancing the Institutional Advancement program to achieve the College’s strategic goals and objectives. They will have the unique opportunity to have a transformational impact on Augusta Technical College (Augusta Tech) by realizing the potential for Institutional Advancement’s significant growth and success. The Vice President of Institutional Advancement will be an experienced and effective fundraising professional, a compelling advocate for Augusta Technical College, and a strategic partner to the President. Working collaboratively with the President, the Vice President will champion the College externally, cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors, alumni, industry, and community partners, and secure the philanthropic resources necessary to support the College's mission and ensure continued excellence and growth in the programs and services provided to students and the community. The Vice President of Institutional Advancement will embrace an ambitious fundraising platform by articulating a vision and plan for Institutional Advancement, along with ensuring accountability though clearly defined goals and metrics. The VP of IA will build a broader base of support for the College. They will provide strategic leadership for major gift fundraising by establishing a robust pipeline of individual donors, engaging new philanthropic prospects, and expanding giving among existing supporters to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Augusta Tech Foundation. They also will seek to develop a robust corporate relations program, along with enhanced foundation relations and planned giving programs.

MAJOR DUTIES
  • Ensure that the institution’s advancement focus and activities align with and support Augusta Tech’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Serve as the primary fundraiser for the Foundation, especially major gift fundraising and capital campaign(s);
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures that guide resource development activities and Augusta Technical College Foundation operations, including but not limited to annual and major gift fundraising campaigns, alumni affairs, grants development, and a variety of friend-raising efforts;
  • Assist in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors for individual and corporate contributions and manage a personal portfolio of major donors/grantors;
  • Provide leadership and support for planning and implementation of new advancement services and programs, such as alumni relations and planned giving;
  • Strategically cultivate local partners, assisting with expansion of cooperative relationships with businesses, government agencies, chambers of commerce, and other organizations;
  • Assist with Augusta Tech’s strategy for strengthening relationships with elected officials and government agencies and increasing their understanding of Augusta Tech and the Augusta Tech Foundation
  • Serve on the President's Cabinet to assist with strategic planning and campus discussions;
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the College and the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, ensuring alignment of advancement priorities with institutional goals;
  • Manage the College’s community engagement sponsorships and provide insights to expanding community partnerships and cultivation of key relationships to advance institutional priorities;
  • Assist college leadership in navigating complex projects related to external agencies and land purchases;
  • Participate in community relations and external affairs activities that support funding for advancing the Augusta Tech’s mission and strategic plan, representing the College at community functions;
  • Represent Augusta Tech at key external functions as designated by the President including all local chambers, key business events, professional organizations and other public affairs;
  • Develop and build carefully selected strategic partnerships that can help Augusta Tech further its mission and goals, while simultaneously broadening its reach;
  • Proactively collaborate with peer institutions, community-based organizations, and industry sectors to develop partnerships that strengthen and expand economic mobility in the region;
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the President.
Oversee Foundation Board operations
  • Developing, communicating, and tracking progress toward the Foundation’s strategic plan;
  • Planning and facilitating Board meetings;
  • Identifying and recruiting prospective Foundation Trustees;
  • Presenting budgets and requests for Foundation support;
  • Providing approval or guidance for disbursement;
  • Working with the College’s VP for Administrative Services to carrying out fiduciary responsibilities.

Essential Functions: The VP of IA oversees, facilitates, and evaluates resource development activities including Foundation operations, and works under the direction of the president and the Foundation Board of Trustees. This position will serve as the main fundraiser, charged with setting and implementing the College’s fundraising strategy. The VP of IA position is responsible for the administration of a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and provides leadership and direction to fundraising programs and activities that will strengthen private sector support for Augusta Tech. This position cultivates relationships with external leaders, businesses, and organizations and assists with efforts to strengthen and deepen relationships with federal and state legislative delegations, county and municipal officials, and executive agencies that increase the College's visibility and improve its ability to compete for funding opportunities and appropriations, and for participation in projects having strategic value to the college.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience of demonstrated success in leading annual fundraising campaigns, major gift campaigns, capital campaigns, endowment campaigns, or other fundraising activities.
  • Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience serving as a Vice President for Institutional Advancement (or equivalent chief advancement officer) at a college or university.
  • Alternatively, significant experience in a senior advancement leadership role reporting directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement or Chief Advancement Officer.
  • Demonstrated success leading comprehensive fundraising, donor cultivation, alumni engagement, and strategic advancement initiatives in a higher education setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience serving as a Vice President for Institutional Advancement (or equivalent chief advancement officer) at a college or university.
