Responsibilities

The Structure Installer is responsible for assembling, installing, and securing structural components for overhead crane and hoist systems in industrial and commercial facilities. This role requires mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication skills, and the ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. The Structure Installer will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient installation of crane support structures, runways, and related components.

·         Installation & Assembly:

o   Install structural supports, runway beams, and overhead crane systems according to project specifications and engineering drawings.

o   Perform welding, bolting, and other fastening methods to secure structures in place.

o   Align and level beams, tracks, and hoist rails to ensure proper functionality.

·         Safety & Compliance:

o   Follow OSHA, ANSI, and other industry regulations for safe lifting, rigging, and working at heights.

o   Inspect tools, rigging equipment, and work areas to maintain a safe environment.

o   Ensure structural integrity and compliance with load-bearing requirements.

·         Blueprint & Specification Interpretation:

o   Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and installation manuals.

o   Work with engineers and project managers to clarify project requirements.

·         Fabrication & Welding (If Applicable):

o   Perform on-site welding and modifications to steel structures.

o   Use cutting, drilling, and grinding tools to prepare materials for installation.

·         Collaboration & Communication:

o   Work closely with crane technicians, electricians, and riggers during the installation process.

o   Provide status updates and report any issues or obstacles to supervisors.

·         Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

o   Conduct post-installation inspections and adjustments as needed.

o   Assist in troubleshooting alignment or operational issues.

Requirements

·         Experience: 2+ years in structural installation, rigging, or welding (crane & hoist industry preferred).

·         Technical Skills:

o   Proficiency in welding (MIG, Stick, or TIG) is a plus.

o   Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment.

o   Familiarity with steel fabrication and installation techniques.

·         Certifications:

o   OSHA 10 or 30 certification (preferred).

o   Welding certification (AWS) (preferred).

o   Rigging certification (NCCCO or equivalent) (preferred).

·         Physical Requirements:

o   Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights.

o   Comfortable working in industrial environments (factories, warehouses, etc.).

o   Willingness to travel to job sites as required.

 

Work Environment

·         Work Hours: Typically 40+ hours per week, with potential overtime.

·         Travel: Moderate to high, depending on project locations.
