The Role



LUZCO is looking for an organized, motivated, and collaborative Assistant Project Manager to support utility and construction-related projects from kickoff through completion. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced work, problem-solving, and coordinating moving pieces while developing long-term project management skills.


As an Assistant Project Manager, youโ€™ll work closely with senior project managers, engineers, clients, contractors, and field teams to help keep projects on track, organized, and moving forward. This position is designed to provide hands-on exposure to all aspects of project management, with opportunities to gradually take ownership of projects over time.


This role is typically 80% office-based and 20% field-based, with travel to project sites within a 1โ€“3 hour radius of the reporting location.



What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Support Project Managers across multiple active projects from inception to completion
  • Review initial project scopes and assist in developing project work plans with engineering teams and clients
  • Coordinate outage requests and sequencing plans with internal teams and contractors
  • Assist with procurement coordination for major and minor material/equipment needs
  • Coordinate environmental and non-environmental permitting review and submittals
  • Help prepare RFP packages, scopes of work, baseline schedules, and bid documentation
  • Participate in contractor bid evaluations and award recommendations
  • Facilitate or assist with pre-construction and project progress meetings
  • Track project schedules, milestones, budgets, and financial forecasts
  • Maintain project documentation and navigate client systems for project tracking and reporting
  • Communicate project updates related to schedule, costs, procurement, safety, and construction progress
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and field teams
  • Spend time in the field to stay engaged with project progress and better understand project scopes
  • Collaborate regularly with schedulers and project teams to maintain detailed project schedules
Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 2โ€“5 years of experience in project coordination or construction project management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
