Job description

Job Title

Responsible for providing residents with routine daily personal care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and plan of care as directed.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provides personal care and activities of daily living (ADL's) care to residents including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

2. Keeps residents rooms and resident care areas clean and neat.

3. Participates in the orientation of new residents to facility.

4. Documents care as instructed and required.

5. Reports all changes in the resident's condition (i.e., areas of redness, skin tears, bruising, mental status change, eating habits, etc.) to the charge nurse.

6. Checks assigned residents routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met.

7. Assists in transporting resident to/from dining room, therapy, activity and social programs, etc., as necessary.

8. Monitors and records vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration and reports any changes in condition to the nursing staff.

9. Encourages resident to participate in activity programs and assists as needed.

10. Performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.

11. Assists with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., as necessary, utilizing appropriate techniques.

12. Serves meals and assist with feeding as necessary.

13. Responds to call lights and resident requests promptly and courteously.

14. Performs other duties as directed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

Must possess a current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Alabama or obtain certification within 120 days of hire. Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
