Job description

Traffic Engineer
Location: Any Fishbeck Michigan Regional Office
Employment Type: Full-time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Traffic Engineer to help us keep building.
Working with our Transportation Department, you will support and lead traffic engineering projects, including traffic studies, modeling, forecasting, signal operations, maintenance of traffic plans, and client coordination.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization analyses, and traffic forecasts.
  • Perform intersection and roadway traffic modeling.
  • Conduct roundabout analysis and geometric evaluations.
  • Develop maintenance of traffic plans using traffic data.
  • Write reports and support traffic signal design and operations.
  • Interact with clients, including MDOT, local agencies, consulting partners, and contractors.
  • Assist with project budgets, schedules, and technical proposals.
  • Manage tasks, mentor staff, and collaborate with transportation professionals across Fishbeck offices.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • 2+ years of traffic engineering experience.
  • Experience with the ITE Trip Generation Manual and traffic studies.
  • Preferred knowledge of MDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Vissim, Rodel, and MicroStation software.
  • Excellent computer, planning, verbal communication, and collaboration skills.
