Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager/Project Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex electrical power engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline and an interest in growing into project management. This role combines technical knowledge with field coordination, project documentation, scheduling, client communication, and testing and commissioning support.


  • Manage all site-level document control, ensuring that current drawings, specifications, work orders, and scope documents are available to field personnel at all times
  • Process, track, and distribute RFIs from initiation through resolution, maintaining a current RFI log and ensuring timely responses from the client or EPC
  • Prepare, submit, and track site submittals including material data sheets, cable termination kit approvals, test equipment calibration records, and crew qualification documentation
  • Maintain organized site files, including daily reports, inspection records, photographic documentation, and correspondence, ensuring all records are audit-ready
  • Support the Project Manager in assembling and maintaining job packets, ensuring field copies are current and reflect the latest approved scope of work
  • Prepare and submit daily progress reports to the Project Manager, documenting work completed, crew deployment, weather conditions, delays, safety observations, and any issues requiring attention
  • Maintain a daily site log capturing all significant activities, visitor logs, client directions, and any verbal instructions received in the field
  • Photograph work in progress as required for project documentation and quality records
  • Track and report daily quantities and any rework or deficiencies identified
  • Conduct daily crew briefings with the crew leadership to review the day's work plan, safety requirements, and sequencing priorities
  • Coordinate daily work sequencing between crews to ensure cable terminations are completed, inspected, and ready for testing in the proper sequence
  • Monitor daily progress against the project schedule, identifying delays, access issues, or resource conflicts and communicating them to the Project Manager immediately
  • Track daily headcount, labor hours, and equipment usage for both Power Engineering Services crews and subcontractors, providing accurate daily reports to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate material deliveries, staging areas, and tool and equipment availability on site to prevent work stoppages
  • Monitor subcontractor performance on-site, including quality of workmanship, schedule adherence, and compliance with Power Engineering Services and client safety requirements
  • Document and communicate any subcontractor performance issues, delays, or disputes to the Project Manager promptly

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Mechanical engineering, construction management, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience managing utility or electrical infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in electrical systems, power distribution, protection & control, or substation testing
  • Working knowledge of NETA testing procedures and ability to interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams, preferred
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Primavera, MS Project, or similar platforms
  • Experience managing electrical subcontractors and leading field testing teams
  • Ability to confidently interface with engineers, electricians, clients, and utility stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple fast-paced projects with competing deadlines
  • Hands-on field or trade experience (NETA-certified technician or licensed electrician), preferred
  • PMP, PE license, or NETA Level III/IV certification, preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and pre-employment drug screening
  • Willingness to travel 30-40% to project sites across assigned regions during active phases
