Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing Goosehead's revenue recognition, commissions, and accounts receivable processes. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position manages revenue accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 606), ensures timely and accurate processing of carrier commission statements, and oversees the accounts receivable function to support cash collection and reconciliation. This role also supports SEC reporting requirements, provides technical accounting guidance, and drives continuous improvement across revenue processes. The Senior Manager leads and develops a team of revenue accountants and commission specialists, ensuring high-quality results, operational efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Revenue Recognition

Lead the accounting and reporting for revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.

Oversee the monthly and quarterly close process for revenue, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.

Support preparation of external reporting deliverables, including schedules for SEC filings and related disclosures.

Research and document technical accounting matters, drafting memoranda on complex revenue transactions.

Commissions Oversight

Manage the commissions team to ensure all monthly carrier commission statements are received, processed, and posted accurately and timely.

Oversee the reconciliation of cash receipts to carrier statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy of commission revenue.

Partner with external carrier partners and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure strong financial controls.
