Assistant Financial Controller

The Opportunity
The Assistant Financial Controller will support the Accounting and Control function of Glanbia Dairy Nutrition. This person will play a leading role in ensuring the integrity of financial processes and financial and management reporting for the DN division's newly acquired businesses across multiple locations, with key responsibility for the reporting of monthly and year end accounts as well as new process development. Emphasis is on providing timely, relevant and accurate information in a dynamic environment, where accurate information is paramount and essential in supporting operational and strategic decision-making. This opportunity will offer scope for a career minded individual to progress and develop their career within the organization.
Essential Functions
  • Accurate, timely preparation and submission of monthly and year-end financial and management accounts and reporting packs to Group and Senior Management
  • Manage and provide support to Accounting & Finance Associate and Financial Analyst (Direct reports) across multiple locations
  • Provide analysis and supporting information to assist management teams in understanding business performance and decision making
  • Ensure that the required accounting control procedures are in place and are effective. This includes the control and reconciliation of the Balance Sheet in line with Glanbia procedures
  • Manage and review the monthly inventory reconciliations and liaise with relevant BU stakeholders
  • Review of weekly cash forecasts for the business unit, including cash management, AR & AP responsibilities and reporting
  • Pro-actively identify opportunities to develop, enhance and improve controls, systems and processes in line with the evolving business needs of newly acquired businesses going through an integration process
  • Responsible for providing information for statutory reporting, external audit and tax compliance
  • Play a leading role in the budget and forecasting cycles for the business with associated reporting and controls
  • Support financial process and systems improvement activity ensuring all Glanbia financial planning and reporting processes are optimized and aligned with overall reporting structure
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Skills you will bring to the team
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or Finance; minimum of two years' related experience. Preferred: CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to build and maintain complex financial models, reports and databases.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of accounting to ensure financial statement integrity.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, and handle multiply projects simultaneously.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Participates in special projects/ action teams.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
