Salary:                $40 – 50/hour, depending on experience

Overview:

An active family of six is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and hands-on Part-time Household Manager / Housekeeping Assistant to help manage their 12,000-square-foot home in New Canaan, CT. Approximately 75% of this position will involve household management, errands, organization, property upkeep, vendor coordination, and the many day-to-day tasks required to keep a home operating smoothly. The remaining approximately 25% will involve assisting the family’s Full-time Housekeeper with cleaning, laundry, and related housekeeping duties when needed.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is proactive, resourceful, detail-oriented, and willing to handle a broad variety of responsibilities. The ideal candidate will independently recognize what needs to be done, take ownership of tasks through completion, and help ensure that the home is consistently organized, stocked, maintained, and functioning properly.

Responsibilities:

Household Management and Daily Operations

  • Help oversee the day-to-day operation and organization of the home.
  • Ensure that household supplies are properly stocked, organized, and replenished, including soaps, toiletries, paper products, and cleaning supplies.
  • Regularly inspect commonly used areas of the home to confirm that they are organized, stocked, clean, and functioning properly.
  • Notice and report maintenance concerns, damage, malfunctioning equipment, or other issues requiring attention.
  • Cover outdoor furniture and cushions before rain or severe weather and uncover them when conditions permit.
  • Keep outdoor furniture, cushions, tables, seating areas, patios, terraces, and other exterior living spaces clean, organized, and ready for use.
  • Keep the garage, outdoor storage spaces, and household equipment neat and organized.
  • Help prepare the home before guests arrive and restore it afterward.
  • Meet and provide access to vendors, contractors, repair personnel, delivery teams, and other service providers arriving at the home.
  • Organize closets, clothing, drawers, cabinets, shelves, storage areas, garages, and other household spaces.
  • Run local errands for the family as needed.
  • Prepare and drop off outgoing mail, dry cleaning, packages, returns, exchanges, and shipments.
  • Bring family vehicles to be washed, cleaned, serviced, inspected, or maintained as requested.
  • Identify clutter or disorganized areas and take initiative to improve them.

Laundry/Housekeeping

  • Assist the Full-time Housekeeper with cleaning and laundry when necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Prior experience working in a private household, estate, luxury residence, hospitality environment, property-management role, or similarly service-oriented position.
  • Experience managing a broad range of household tasks, errands, vendors, organization projects, and property-maintenance responsibilities.
  • Hands-on and willing to perform both household-management and housekeeping duties.
  • Honest, discreet, and trustworthy
  • Professional, good listener, able to follow directions
  • Proactive, efficient, and well-organized
  • Proficient with English language – spoken, reading and writing
  • Must drive and have own car

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate understands that successfully managing a large home requires attention to numerous details, big and small. This person will take pride in anticipating needs, solving problems, maintaining organization, completing tasks promptly, and doing whatever is reasonably necessary to ensure that the home runs smoothly each day.
