Job Description

The Senior Architect candidate can successfully execute specific scope areas across applicable phases of a project, including design, documentation and construction administration as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  This position encourages creativity in problem solving to promote technical and design excellence while ensuring building code and regulatory compliance.  The Senior Architect has the ability to coordinate with internal and external parties, manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others.  The candidate will serve as the Architectural point of contact for clients, other disciplines, estimating and construction personnel. 

The Senior Architect candidate has the ability to develop CRB's Architectural presence in advanced technology markets and is differentiated by a focused area of industry related expertise or interest. The candidate has distinguished themselves through industry presentations and involvement, thought leadership and a deep understanding of industry specific regulations, design standard and trends.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Work independently on projects with ability to execute all phases of design, including programming, planning, concept development, detailed design and construction administration.
  • Generate complex code analyses, life safety and egress plans, floor plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules and specifications for large projects of advanced complexity with no oversight.
  • Develop and generate studies, presentations and reports, and present to internal or external audiences.
  • Research and apply International Building Code and other regulatory requirements as part of project delivery process.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Construction personnel to develop and ensure coordinated and constructible designs.
  • Participate and contribute during drawing reviews, coordination meetings and quality checks. 
  • Assist PM in resource planning, budget and scope definition, schedule adherence and overall quality of deliverables.
  • Conduct quality checking of documents for complex projects (e.g. technical verification of design calculations, documentation, design approaches) and drive overall project quality. 
  • Identify and resolve complex code, construction or design related challenges
  • Develop advanced Architectural design and/or technical training presentations.
  • Provide mentorship to Architectural staff.
  • Act as Architect of Record for project assignments, may include corporate licensure responsibilities.
Qualifications

Must Have Qualifications

  • Accredited Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch, and/or D.Arch) or Canadian / International equivalent
  • Architectural license in good standing within home state, with ability for reciprocal licensure through NCARB
  • Extensive knowledge and application of International Building Codes, OSHA Regulations and ADA Standards
  • History of successful, cross-discipline project coordination and execution on a variety of project types
  • Ability to develop (or guide development of) complete set of Construction Documents and Specifications for complex projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office suite
  • Relevant AEC (Architectural, Engineering or Construction) firm experience
  • 15 years of professional experience

  • Flexibility for moderate travel in support of project-based or training activities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to mentor Architectural staff 
  • LEED Accreditation, WELL Certification or similar sustainability credentials
  • Expertise in one or more of CRB's core markets, including R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition and/or consumer products and international clients/projects.
