Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Title Insurance Specialist / Underwriter to support our growing acquisition and development of solar energy projects across the U.S. This role will be responsible for coordinating title due diligence, underwriting risk, and managing title insurance processes to ensure that land acquisitions, leases, and easements are clean, insurable, and development-ready.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial title insurance, real estate law, or underwriting, with specific experience working on renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
Title Review & Analysis
o Review title commitments, exception documents, surveys, and recorded instruments for solar project sites.
o Identify title defects, encumbrances, or ownership issues and propose resolution strategies.
o Coordinate title curative actions with underwriters, attorneys, surveyors, and landowners.
Underwriting & Insurance Coordination
o Underwrite title insurance policies for fee, leasehold, and easement interests associated with solar projects.
o Negotiate coverage terms and endorsements with title companies.
o Prepare and issue final title policies ensuring alignment with lender and project requirements.
Project Development Support
o Collaborate with real estate, legal, and development teams to ensure land title deliverables are met for project milestones (site control, acquisition closings and financings).
o Assist with ALTA survey review and ensure consistency between title and survey data.
o Maintain organized records and title reports for multiple projects in development.
Risk Management & Compliance
o Advise internal teams on title-related risks, limitations, and insurance options.
o Ensure compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and title company underwriting guidelines.
o Stay current on industry trends affecting title and land use for renewable energy projects.
Qualifications
Required:
• 5+ years of experience in commercial title insurance, underwriting, or related real estate field.
• Strong understanding of title commitments, surveys, legal descriptions, and real property law.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with title companies and stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
• Experience managing title matters for solar projects.
• Licensed Title Agent or Underwriter in one or more U.S. states.
• Familiarity with ALTA standards, lender requirements, and renewable energy land structures (leases, easements, options).
• Experience using title production software and document management systems.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Interfaces with
customers, vendors and the public. All employees, including Senior and Executive Management, Sales & Finance.
Physical Demands
Conducts work in in a professional office setting or off-site at company marketing events and trade shows. Physical working conditions may involve the following:
