Job description

Brownlee Lumber Company, Inc. is searching for a Procurement Forester to join our Forestry Team to assist with purchasing high quality hardwood timber.
The Procurement Forester will be responsible for proactively sourcing, purchasing, and managing harvests of hardwood timber to meet target inventories for our sawmill and kiln drying facilities located near Brookville, Pennsylvania.
Candidates must be willing to travel within the region.
Key Objectives
  • Source and enhance timber buying opportunities with private landowners and local / state / federal agencies.
  • Purchase high quality standing timber to meet strategic inventory and supply chain requirements.
  • Establish positive, effective relationships with public and private stakeholders.
  • Manage logging operations and logistics to ensure timely harvests.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Promote best forestry practices and safe working environments.
  • Cooperate with Forestry Team to improve overall timber harvest.
  • Assist leadership with supply chain planning and logistics optimization.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or related field (or 3-5 years of equivalent experience in standing timber acquisition).
  • At least 1-3 years of successful timber buying experience required.
  • General to advanced knowledge of logging practices. Basic knowledge of sawmill operations.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule often outdoors in adverse weather conditions and harsh terrain.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of forestry mapping and data hardware and software.
