YOUR ROLE:
We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Junior Set Designer to support the day-to-day operations of our Art Department. Reporting directly to the Art Dept Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for assisting with set builds, production staging, prop and material sourcing, transportation, inventory management, administrative support, and on-set execution across multiple studios and production locations. The ideal candidate has previous TV, film, commercial, or live production experience and a solid understanding of Art Department operations, set logistics, and production workflows. They are a proactive, resourceful problem solver who anticipates department needs, takes initiative, and confidently manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable in the office, on set, in the workshop, or coordinating resources with external vendors. The candidate understands the importance of maintaining professionalism on set and in office while working closely with Executives and Directors. Strong communication, organization, time management, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills are essential, along with a positive attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Art Dept Manager and general crew in the day-to-day execution of set builds, production staging, and striking as needed
  • Assist the Director of Creative Production and Art Dept. Manager with creative research, mood boards, material sourcing, and pre-production planning.
  • Assist with general runs, pick-ups, drop-offs, and returns.
  • Research, source, purchase, track, and manage materials, props, furnishings, and décor from both in-house inventory and external vendors.
  • Organize, maintain, and inventory all Art Department assets, props, tools, supplies, and workspaces.
  • Track purchases, invoices, receipts, budgets, and production expenses accurately and on time.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for purchases, vendor information, production documents, and inventory.
  • Check props and set pieces in and out for productions, ensuring all items are properly returned, logged, and stored.
  • Source materials with an awareness of budget, production timelines, and creative priorities.
  • Ensure sets are equipped with all necessary items and stock inventory
  • Maintain production timelines by completing assignments efficiently while adapting to changing priorities and production schedules.
  • Drive light to medium commercial trucks
  • Read and interpret creative treatments, scripts, shot lists, floor plans, and storyboards to anticipate and prepare Art Department needs.
  • When needed, assist in maintaining set continuity and execute established art direction on set while collaborating with Set Designers, Construction, Stylists, Directors, and Production.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, positive, and solution-oriented work environment both in the shop and on set.
  • Represent the Art Department professionally when interacting with crew members, talent, clients, vendors, and partner departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with production standards.

  • 2-3 years Relevant TV/Film production assistant experience
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record a must
  • Comfortable driving personal vehicle, production vans and box trucks up to 24 ft.
  • Open to work occasional weekends
  • Understands the principles of set building and staging
  • Intermediate experience using Adobe Suite, Google Suite, and other production-related software
  • Solution oriented communicator
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exercises good judgment and decision making
  • Maintain confidentiality over all matters and proprietary information
  • General handyman skills - painting, drywall, carpentry, etc. a plus
