Job description

Iberia Medical Center(IMC) in New Iberia, LA., is looking for team members who will help advance ourvision to be the premier hospital of choice for patients, physicians, andemployees. IMC is currentlyhiring a Radiology Assistant (Rad Asst.) on a full-time basiswho will greet patients at the reception desk, enter orders for Radiologyprocedures per outpatient requests, assist CAT scan Technologists (CT Techs)with oral contrast before scans and assist patients with assessment forms. TheRad Assistant is also responsible for ensuring medical necessity which willinvolve calling the physician's office. They will also perform various clericalfunctions such as filing jackets, mailing reports, and CDs, disposition ofradiology images on CD, and handling phone calls. The Rad asst. will beresponsible for retrieving old film from nearby storage. The Rad asst. willalso assist with transporting patients when necessary. 


EDUCATION

  • High school diploma

TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  • Medical office experience preferred 

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Medical Terminology preferred 

PRINCIPLETASKS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer phone and follow through with requests
  • Fax Radiology reports as requested
  • Print images onto CD's
  • Receive patients in the waiting area
  • Ensure patients are prepped for procedures
  • Order tests in the computer system
  • Notify techs of tests ordered and patients waiting
  • Communicate wait or other issues with patients
  • Work overtime if a heavy workload arises
  • Cooperate with physicians
  • Be abreast of all P.I., projects, and areas routinely monitored
  • Assist Tech Supervisor and Manager with projects when needed
  • Attend department meetings, hospital in-services
  • Assists in departmental orientation to new employees
  • Follow IMC Standards of Performance, Hospital Goals, Department Goals
  • Assist U/S Tech if a female attendant is needed
  • Excellent customer service skills required
