Job description

Position Overview

MetroSys is seeking a Systems Engineer I who currently resides in the Greater Phoenix area to provide hands-on support for enterprise Microsoft and infrastructure environments.

This is an onsite, early-career engineering position offering exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization, backup and recovery, cloud technologies, and enterprise infrastructure operations.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of IT infrastructure experience and is ready to move beyond traditional help desk support into systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support Windows Server environments.
  • Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365.
  • Monitor servers, virtualization platforms, storage, backup systems, and infrastructure services.
  • Assist with server provisioning, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server, authentication, virtualization, and infrastructure issues.
  • Perform system health checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Monitor backup jobs and assist with restore requests and disaster recovery testing.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Work alongside senior engineers on infrastructure projects and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with networking, security, service desk, and cloud teams.
  • Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Must currently live in the Greater Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area.
  • 1–3 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a similar technical position.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Windows Server
    • Active Directory
    • DNS and DHCP
    • Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Basic knowledge of backup and recovery technologies.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Basic PowerShell knowledge.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Phoenix five days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Azure experience.
  • Microsoft Intune or MECM/SCCM experience.
  • MSP or enterprise infrastructure experience.
