Come work as an Assistant Chief Power Engineer with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Power Plant team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply now to join our team! 

Within the context of a client centred health care environment, the Assistant Chief Power Engineer provides technical oversight for the operation, repair and maintenance of the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) Energy Centre and Campus Utility Systems. Plans, schedules, and implements daily, annual and preventative maintenance programs. Reviews and provides recommendations on safe work procedures and progressive training programs, maintains records and performs skilled hands-on engineering duties as required. Maintains knowledge of electrical systems, welding, machining, pipefitting, steam fitting and millwrighting.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program in power engineering plus seven (7) years' recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certificate of competency as a 2nd Class Power Engineer.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to supervise.
