Florida Defensive Training is a premier training facility focused on the full spectrum of defensive training. Our programs integrate firearms, combatives, medical, legal, and fitness to prepare individuals for real-world situations. We train civilians, security professionals, and law enforcement with a practical, no-nonsense approach.
Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Jiu-Jitsu or Mixed Martial Arts Instructor to join our team. This role involves teaching structured classes focused on practical, real-world application of grappling and ground control, aligned with our defensive training philosophy.
Responsibilities

  • Lead and instruct Jiu-Jitsu / grappling classes for all skill levels
  • Teach techniques focused on self-defense, control, and real-world application.

  • Ensure a safe, professional, and disciplined training environment
  • Assist in curriculum development aligned with FDT’s training system.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, grappling, MMA, boxing, or kickboxing (competition and/or teaching)
  • Strong ability to teach and communicate effectively
  • Professional demeanor and leadership mindset
  • Prior instructor experience preferred
Additional Opportunities

Instructors with additional backgrounds may qualify for expanded roles and increased hours, including:
  • Firearms instruction
  • Medical training (TCCC, First Aid, etc.)
