Job description

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A STORE SUPERVISOR

As a Store Supervisor, you play a vital role in supporting our mission of providing employment-related services to the community by participating in all areas of the store's daily operations. Every day is a little something different and offers both variety and routine! You will get to train others in customer service, cashiering, assisting with donors, evaluating, sorting and pricing used merchandise, transporting priced goods to the retail floor, rotating old merchandise off the sales floor, and general cleaning and organizing. The Store Supervisor assumes responsibility of all store personnel and processes in the absence of Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR A STORE SUPERVISOR

  1. High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year retail experience.
  2. One (1) year supervisory experience.
  3. Knowledgeable in merchandising and industry trends.
  4. Ability to operate a cash register, count money and make change.
  5. May be required to successfully complete and maintain:
  • Article 9 and Prevention and Support and Certified Monitor Training.
  1. Will be required to successfully complete and maintain CPR and 1st Aid
  2. Will be required to gain clearance under the Department of Economic Security to provide services to clients of the Division of Developmental Disabilities (fingerprint and background check) within 90 days of employment.
  3. Ability to read, write and have a basic math aptitude.
  4. Ability to realistically assess values of merchandise.
  5. Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and be able to stand for long periods at a time; bend, reach and stretch repeatedly during a shift.
  6. Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  7. Must be able to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends).
  8. Must be willing to transfer to other stores as requested.
  9. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  10. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all individuals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. * Demonstrate GISAโ€™s Values at all times.
  2. * Securely handles cash, cash receipts, bank deposits, the safe combination, and keys to the store as assigned.
  3. * Report all unusual or suspicious occurrences as they happen, or are brought to your attention, to the Store Manager.
  4. * Assist in preparing employee weekly work and break schedule. Set up the daily โ€œto doโ€ lists and ensure the work gets done.
  5. * Assist in recruitment and selection process as needed.
  6. * Communicate and assist customers and donors as needed.
  7. * Assist Store Manager in day-to-day operations of the Store.
  8. Conduct โ€œManaging by Walking Aroundโ€ throughout the entire day
  9. * Ensure cleanliness and image of Store.
  10. Coordinate and communicate transportation and maintenance needs to appropriate individuals.
  11. Assist in ordering and maintaining supplies
  12. * Assist in the proper rotation of aged textiles and hard goods in accordance with established policies/procedures
  13. * Assess quality of merchandise received from production and adjust prices if necessary.
  14. Observe customers to reduce pilferage of Goodwill property.
  15. Complete time cards, weekly processing reports, program participantsโ€™ reports if necessary, and employee documentation.
  16. Ensure donations processed in accordance with company standards and complete proper production records.
  17. Works with staff to ensure donations reach the sales floor within 24 hours.
  18. Complete monthly Goals and Objectives with Supervisor.
  19. Clean up all work areas at the end of each shift.
  20. Clean toppers and replaces merchandise as needed.
  21. Follow all company and department policies and procedures.
  22. Follow all safety rules; Report accidents or injuries immediately.
  23. Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, Inc. and persons receiving services.
  24. Assists in other areas as requested.
