JUNIOR FIELD ENGINEER (EO/IR/LAS) MGTF GWEF Eglin AFB, FL Open Position Request Number: R-OO-26 CLASSIFICATION: Junior Field Engineer GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-Time LOCATION : Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF), Eglin AFB, FL - On Site ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide support to develop, operate and maintain complex electronic equipment utilized by GWEF HITL for guided munitions and IRCM simulations, including EO, IR, LASER, RF and GPS technologies. These systems include foreign and domestic surface-to-air, air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons sensors, simulation hardware and countermeasure systems. Assist in the development, installation, operation, maintenance and evaluation of simulation equipment. The simulation equipment includes signal generators, EO and IR sources, spectrum analyzers, interface cabling, optical components, PCs and computer interfaces to simulation equipment, rate tables, flight motion simulators, LASER systems, high sensitivity radiometers and IR calibration equipment, spectral radiometer and National Institute of Standards and Testing (NIST)-traceable IR sources (high temperature and differential types). Work under the close supervision of senior level personnel. GENERAL DUTIES: * Support facility engineers and analysts in developing test capabilities. * Prepare and verify test itemsfor operation and troubleshoot failed test items using established procedures. * Set up test equipment, configure test areasfor simulation, prepare equipment and perform equipment diagnostics, operate IR/RF equipment, collect data duringtesting and process data collected. * Support the alignment and calibration of LASER, IR and visible optical systems. * Support the preparation of technical reports and correspondence. Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support facility engineers and analysts in developing test capabilities. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company quality, safety, environmental, security and administrative policies; supports process improvements. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree or Training Certificates in electronics or engineering from trade schools, colleges, military, etc. Must have a minimum of one year experience in specialized areas related to EO, IR or LASER technologies or focused areas of development, operations, and maintenance of complex electronic equipment utilized for guided munitions and IRCM simulations that facilitate the use of EO, IR, LASER, RF and GPS technologies. SECURITY: This position requires a Top Secret security clearance. Candidates may have a Secret clearance that has been adjudicated within the last 5 years. Must meet requirements to operate in enhanced security environments. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most duties will be performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires some lifting or moving of objects. Must be capable of sitting, walking, and standing.
