Wolseley High School offers grade 7 to 12 programming to an enrolment of approximately 95 students. Grenfell is located 109 km east of Regina. This is a permanent part-time position that will commence on August 26, 2026.ย  ย 
Role Overview:
The Library Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the school library in order to create a positive, welcoming and relevant centre of learning for all members of the school community.
What you will do:






  • Independently and accurately performย basic cataloguing functions using standards of professional librarianship:
    • Createย "copy" catalogue records and edit bibliographic records available through online databases.
    • Accurately generateย labels and bar codes.
    • Maintain, edit, add,ย and deleteย patron records, using appropriate utilities.
    • Completeย regular inventories of resources at schools.
    • Employย division cataloguing and library automated system standards that reflect standards recommended by the Ministry and other recognized library organizations.
    • Collaborateย regularly with team members to ensure a high level of accuracy, detail, and consistency within cataloguing records and for cataloguing practices.
  • Orderย approved resources and sendย information for new resources to a library technician to create the bibliographic record.
  • Provideย reference services to teachers and students, including assisting in locating and using library materials for reading, research, units of work and resource-based learning.
  • Maintainย inventory of resources, ensuring computer-based circulation protocols are followed, collectย overdue materials and attendย to inventory management.
  • Acquireย and processย resources (shelving, filing, laminating, repairing), orderย library consumables and processย materials received.
  • Promoteย an inviting library environment conducive to student achievement by assisting with reading activities, displays and events that engage students and contribute to the school-wide literacy culture.
  • Assistย teachers in the supervision of student use of the library.
  • Attendย and participateย in regular division library staff meetings and professional development.
  • Performย other duties as may be required or assigned by the School Administrator.


What will make you successful:

  • A minimum of one year post-secondary education in a field such as business administration or office administration or an approved Library Clerk certificate.
  • A working knowledge of computers and Microsoft applications of Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Experience in a library setting would be an asset.
  • High degree of proficiency in database software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrateย courtesy and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with library software is an asset.
  • Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.ย 


What you can expect:

  • Hourly rate range: $22.91-$26.79.
  • Employer matched pension plan.
  • Hours of work are 10 hours per week, exact scheduling to be determined. Library Assistants are not scheduled to work during school vacation periods including the summer break.
  • Additional working conditions, leave provisions and other benefits are described in the CUPE Local 5252 Agreement.
  • Some manual labour including regular physical exertion and handling of objects up to 30 lbs. on a repeated basis through the day and pushing weight bearing carts.
