Job description

About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The Software Platform team accelerates developer velocity and increases system reliability by building the foundational platforms and tools that power Robinhood engineering. Within this group, the Kubernetes Compute team focuses on building and operating a highly available, scalable Kubernetes-powered container platform. We ensure that our infrastructure seamlessly supports reliable application deployments, integrates core platform capabilities, and enables multi-region scalability. We are expanding our core container systems to support our next phase of technical growth!

As a Software Developer, you will focus on building, maintaining, and scaling our container provisioning platforms. Working alongside senior engineers, you will write code to improve our infrastructure capabilities and actively participate in our technical transition to Amazon EKS. In this role, you will collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure robust platform integrations for everyday application needs like security and networking. Your efforts will directly improve system visibility, automation, and reliability across the platform.

This role is based in our Toronto office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do
  • Build and maintain scalable container infrastructure using Kubernetes to support high-throughput financial applications.
  • Support the technical implementation and testing needed to transition workloads safely to Amazon EKS.
  • Help optimize container lifecycle management and monitor cluster provisioning APIs for multi-region stability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Robinhood to integrate platform capabilities like service mesh, authentication, and load balancing.
  • Assist in identifying performance bottlenecks in production and write automation to enhance platform availability.
What you bring
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes core concepts, control plane components, and container environments.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining distributed systems or containerized infrastructure in a production setting.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure environments, preferably AWS ecosystems.
  • Basic knowledge of container networking, infrastructure security protocols, or open-source cloud-native tools.
  • Strong collaborative communication skills and a desire to solve technical challenges systematically.
What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career
  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, and equity ownership
  • Top tier benefits to fuel your work, including supplemental health insurance, ancillary insurance, and mental health support programs
  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible employer-paid benefits spending account expenses beyond traditional benefits such as wellness, childcare, learning, and more.
  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, paid volunteer time off, parental leave, and more!
  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.
  • Monthly commuter stipend to help offset in-office commuting costs

Our team is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming interview experience for all candidates. If you require a specific accommodation during the application or interview process due to a physical or mental condition, please complete this Applicant Accommodation Form to notify our team.
