Job Title: Assistant Softball Coach
Reporting Structure: Head Softball Coach
Division: Intercollegiate Athletics
Job Summary: The Athletic Department at Bethune-Cookman University invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Softball Coach. The Assistant Softball Coach position will participate in the preparation, coordination, practice, and game plan preparation and execution of practice plans during the academic year. The position is responsible for the identification, research of, and communication with prospective student-athletes during the calendar year. The assistant coach will also assist in the academic, personal, and career mentoring of student-athletes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Coach in developing the game strategy and designing effective and efficient training and practices for both the team and individual student-athlete.
  • Assist with practices, competitions, and games, home and away.
  • Enforce team policies and rules, assist with fundraising and community involvement. Assist in the recruitment of top-level, Division I student-athletes.
  • Assist the Head Coach in performing other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for assisting with the oversight of the maintenance of the softball field and upkeep of the equipment.
  • Assisting in all aspects of the recruitment process from inception to completion, including: the development of recruitment plans, targeting potential student-athletes for recruitment purposes, and making recommendations.
  • Assisting with coordination and implementation of travel arrangements. Assisting with Softball budget management. And other duties assigned by the head coach

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience as a player in high school and college and/or previous coaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NCAA, SWAC, and rules and regulations, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:
  • Division I experience as player and/or coach preferred.
