Job description

SUMMARY

The Shipping Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating activities of a department and its employees. To support the Department Supervisor/Manager in ASPC’s lean efforts to become a World Class manufacturing company. Be committed to continuous improvement. Dedicated to meeting the needs and exceeding the expectations of our internal and external customers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the shipping team members.
  • Follow directions from supervisor(s) or manager regarding daily shipments, priorities, and projects.
  • Assist team members with any issues or problems that may occur.
  • Understands and upholds all ASPC policies and procedures, including safety policies, and ensures team member compliance through consistent reinforcement and leadership by example.
  • Assists shipping supervisor and production control to meet on time customer requirements.
  • Supports the Shipping Supervisor by helping team members with day-to-day questions, process/policy clarification, and basic system navigation related to Plex, ADP, and attendance management.
  • Partners with the Shipping Supervisor to identify training gaps, reinforce consistent processes, and support team member development.
  • Timely and professionally responds to emails.
  • Assists shipping supervisor with the training and development of shipping associates.
  • Covers hand off with 2nd shift shipping lead.
  • Must be able to cover all positions under the shipping, receiving and outside processing umbrella.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum one year experience in leadership within a manufacturing environment; preferably automotive.
  • Minimum 1 year shipping and receiving experience.
  • Forklift driving experience.


TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiently uses Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email system and PLEX.
  • Proficiently uses common lean methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve clearly defined issues.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is essential.
