Job description

The Security Specialist will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and improving the cybersecurity posture and physical access security systems across multiple Woonsocket Housing Authority ("WHA") in their IT Department locations. This role combines traditional infrastructure cybersecurity with the oversight of physical security systems, ensuring compliance with federal housing and data security standards. This role bridges technical execution with strategic management, ensuring infrastructure modernization and day-to-day stability across seven operational locations but the primary location will be at 679 Social Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895.



Key Responsibilities


  • Administer and optimize endpoint protection, corporate firewalls, and enterprise Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Perform continuous threat monitoring, log analysis, vulnerability assessments, and execute remediation best practices.
  • Directly support and troubleshoot centralized security camera systems (Hikvision, Avigilon) and video retention systems.
  • Assist in maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring keyless door entry and access control systems (Kerri).
  • Participate in $24\times7\times365$ emergency threat responses and critical incident resolution pipelines.

Qualifications & Experience


  • 3-5 years of dedicated experience in corporate or government cybersecurity environments.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, endpoint protection suites, and threat monitoring tools.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Hikvision or Avigilon IP camera platforms and Kerri (or similar) keyless entry environments.


Preferred Certifications:


  • CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+
  • Vendor certifications (e.g., Hikvision HCSA or Avigilon equivalent)
