Job Summary:

The Producer at CNN en Español is responsible for ensuring high-impact editorial content across platforms, managing the production process, and enhancing audience engagement through compelling storytelling and visual elements.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for tracking the news flow and consistently identifying top stories, ensuring the delivery of high-impact editorial content across all platforms, including FAST Channel and CNN en Español affiliates.
• Drive rundown leadership by creating and executing show rundowns, prioritizing top news, integrating key developments, and shaping the editorial flow and pacing of each broadcast.
• Serve as the primary driver of line production, overseeing end-to-end execution from pre-show planning through live broadcast. Ensure precise timing, strong editorial standards, and swift, informed decision-making in the control room, with the ability to rapidly troubleshoot technical issues under pressure in real time.
• Lead breaking news and rolling coverage as needed, providing real-time editorial judgment and ensuring accurate, timely execution across platforms under pressure.
• Generate, pitch, and execute original reporting and story ideas, with a focus on follow-up coverage and long-term, multi-platform storytelling across genres.
• Create and produce digital and broadcast segments, including multiple content elements and compelling headlines for digital show distribution. Collaborate with content providers, digital, social media, and programming teams to develop and execute concepts for current shows through a coordinated production workflow.
• Lead the creation and execution of compelling on-air graphics, including Viz Pilot, that enhance storytelling and strengthen each show’s visual identity. Design dynamic visual elements that support editorial content, clarify complex information, and elevate audience engagement.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments including Graphics, Newsgathering, Digital, Planning, Promotions and Production teams to ensure accurate, timely, and impactful execution across live and pre-produced content.
• Work closely with internal verification and standards teams to ensure all content is properly vetted and aligned with editorial guidelines.
• Skilled at integrating complementary materials that enhance the broadcast, such as new media elements, social media integration, and interactive features.
• Track key events and developments throughout the year, proactively integrating them into rundowns and shaping coverage strategies around major moments, including opportunities to highlight U.S. Hispanic stories that resonate with the audience.
• Maintain and evaluate award-worthy content for annual submissions, including tracking eligibility across major industry awards and ceremonies.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum of 5–7 years of production experience in the television news industry, with strong practical expertise in control room setting.
• Deep understanding of news media, digital and social media audiences, and platform-specific content strategies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. Hispanic market, including cultural, linguistic, and audience nuances.
• Fluency in Spanish, with strong professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to interpret data and audience metrics to inform daily editorial decision-making and content strategy.
• Skilled in scriptwriting, script editing, and tape editing.
