Define and own the long-term iOS build & automation strategy, including roadmap planning, deprecation plans, and architectural standards aligned with company-wide DevEx goals (10% of the time). Design and assist cross-team initiatives to standardize build, test, and CI practices across multiple iOS feature teams, driving adoption through documentation, tooling, and change management (10% of the time). Establish governance, metrics, and success criteria for build and automation systems, using data to influence leadership decisions on investment, tooling, and technical direction (5% of the time). Review and provide technical input on complex build, CI, and automation changes across the organization, setting best practices rather than executing day-to-day changes (10% of time). Develop, maintain, and enhance CI pipelines on iOS platforms, ensuring reliability and performance (10% of the time). Maintain and update build infrastructure to stay current with latest versions and industry standards using tools like Xcode and Bazel (5% of the time). Improve the reliability and performance of test and build processes to support rapid development cycles (10% of the time). Work with product and engineering teams to embed automated testing early into development lifecycles (10% of the time). Develop internal command-line tools and automation scripts that streamline day-to-day engineering workflows for the iOS team; (10% of the time). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as an iOS Build and Automation Engineer, iOS Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving iOS development or mobile infrastructure engineering.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as an iOS Build and Automation Engineer, iOS Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving iOS development or mobile infrastructure engineering.
Must also have experience in the following: 3 years of professional experience using Swift or Objective-C to build iOS applications or internal automation solutions; 1 year of professional experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications using Buildkite or Jenkins; 1 year of professional experience with iOS test automation frameworks including XCUITest and XCTest; 1 year of professional experience with iOS build systems including Xcode build or Bazel; 1 year of professional experience working with AI editors including Cursor and Codex and applying them to the use of local developer experience for iOS engineers; and 1 years of professional experience working with xcodebuild and running the automation tests via browserstack or marathon labs.
