School Resource Officers


  • Applicants must be active law enforcement officers and certified through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy
  • Officers will be armed
  • Officers will be certified as School Resource Officers within 6 months employment
  • Applicants will be working security at Morton HS, Hammond Central HS, Eggers MS, and/or Scott MS
  • Officers will assist with disturbances or emergencies on school property during school days or special events involving students, staff, and general public
  • Officers will assist staff with state mandated drills
  • Officers will assist school administrators and staff members with overall safety concerns or suspicious activities at the school
  • Officers will assist with monitoring students and visitors that enter and leave the school
  • Officers will assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria during lunch periods and with clearing hallways
  • Officers will maintain a positive presence at all times.
  • Officers will actively monitor and patrol the schools while on duty.
  • Officers will work to develop positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Officers acknowledge that while working for SCH, they report to the building administration and the District School Safety Specialist.
