Job description

REGISTERED NURSE

Job Duties: Registered Nurse for individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses within the agency.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed RN for the state of Georgia.
  • BCLS certified
  • CPI certified
  • NCIC/DBHDD clearance
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Maintains current driver's license if doing transportation
  • Must have a positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Specific nursing duties as assigned
  2. Medication administration
  3. Supports individuals in planning nutritious meals, and supporting those with special diets.
  4. Cooperates with family members regarding reasonable requests related to individual needs.
  5. Train staff on the medical needs of individuals as needed
  6. Dispose of hazardous materials in a safe manner
  7. Ensure the medications are documented on the MARs as prescribed by the physician.
  8. Review the ISP
  9. Attend ISP Meetings, if applicable
  10. Wound Care
  11. Medication Documentation
  12. Ensure practice of the 'Eight Rights of Medication'
  13. Oversee the services delivered by direct care staff and CNAs
  14. Administering G-tube feeding
  15. ADLs
  16. Complete timely Nursing Assessments
  17. Vital Signs/ Skin Care
  18. Participates in the QI process
  19. Nursing Care
  20. Responsible for observing, documenting, reporting and taking action to ensure the quality for services for the individuals
  21. Follow-up to promote quality of life for the individuals being served
  22. Actively participate in the Quality Improvement Plan
  23. Assure that medications are stored according to guidelines
  24. Ensure doctor's appointments are adhered to and follow-ups completed as needed
  25. Confer with physicians, RN, PAs and NP to ensure the health status of the individual is in compliance with their suggestions, recommendations, referrals etc.
  26. Other nursing direct duties as assigned by a RN
  27. Transportation, if applicable (must meet DBHDD transportation requirements)

  1. Review and follow the Plan of Care per PHCP regulations

Competency

  • Fluent in the written and spoken English language
  • Basic computer skills
  • Trainings as required by DBHDD
  • Ongoing training (minimum 16 hours annually)
  • Other duties as assigned
