Job description

Overview

The Director, Project Implementation advances YUSA's mission by directing the implementation of organizational priorities that strengthen and advance community-based partnerships, services, and other approaches across the national YMCA network. This role leads collaborative innovation, communication, and evaluation processes among YMCAs, State Alliances, partners, funders, thought leaders, and other stakeholders to build capacity, to interpret and disseminate learnings, and to accelerate the impact of the YMCA network in serving and supporting community.  The Director will convene internal teams and external stakeholders to drive planning for and implementation of high-quality approaches that address priority areas and that generate sustainable solutions for addressing identified critical issues and opportunities experienced by local Ys and their communities.  

The Network Experience Team fosters a culture of service across the YMCA network by operating in deep partnership with local Ys. The team develops and activates timely, relevant resources; designs and delivers highquality experiences for YMCA leaders; facilitates innovation to ensure continued relevance; and drives national positioning that strengthens the YMCA's credibility within the industry. Grounded in a customerexperience mindset and powered by leading practices and the YUSA service delivery system, the team connects strategy to execution in service of local Ys. Through this work, the Network Experience Team advances organizational excellence and supports the Y's core purpose-creating experiences of achievement, relationship, and belonging that build stronger, more connected communities.

Responsibilities
  • Direct implementation of projects tied to organizational priorities, ensuring effective project planning and execution, continuous learning, impact assessment, and strategic integration within Y-USA's Service Delivery System for supporting the YMCA network.
  • Partner with organizational leadership to shape strategy and align emerging opportunities with organizational priorities and practice leadership.
  • Lead development of processes for project implementation to ensure achievement of deliverables, timeline management, cross-departmental engagement and collaboration, and identification/escalation of opportunities and risks.
  • Identify opportunities to capture, integrate, and activate project learnings to enhance YMCA experience and to support network-wide implementation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of staff and contractors who support project implementation.
  • Supervise staff responsible for direct YMCA cohort facilitation to enable YMCAs to meet project aims.
  • Collaborate across YUSA teams and external partners to ensure implementation success, seamless support to Ys, and fulfillment of grantrelated deliverables and reporting requirements.
Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess a majority of the following professional and personal attributes and competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required in a relevant field such as Business, or related disciplines required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 8-12 years of experience required
  • Expert functional skills, advanced industry knowledge and experience, advanced managerial skills
  • Manages multiple teams or functions
  • Strategic and operational decision-making authority
  • Highly complex tasks and managerial tasks
  • Minimal supervision
