This role is responsible for drafting pleadings, managing case calendars, preparing for hearings, overseeing case progression, and communicating with clients and stakeholders. Success in this position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, solid mathematical ability, effective multitasking, and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. The Paralegal will support multiple stages of the foreclosure process, requiring flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. • Draft a variety of court pleadings related to Extensions, Trial Scheduling, Dismissals, Probate, Death Certificates, and Special Administrator/Personal Representative Substitutions.
  • Prepare and file Land Court Petitions Noting Death as needed.
  • Oversee the handling of both Formal and Informal Probate matters in collaboration with the assigned Probate Attorney.
  • Manage the calendaring of all hearings, deadlines, and key dates associated with assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate publication requirements and payments for Probate-related notices and orders.
  • Assist the Litigation Paralegal with contested matters, including drafting pleadings and managing litigation calendars.
  • Participate in cross-training for Extensions and Trial Scheduling and transition responsibilities as tasks are reassigned.
  • Begin training on additional paralegal duties involving drafting and preparing various court motions and orders as Extension work shifts.
  • Request documents from courts and communicate with court personnel as needed or directed.
  • Obtain records from the Bureau of Conveyances, Department of Health, and other state or federal agencies on a case-by-case basis.
  • Submit requests for additional fees when necessary.
  • Communicate directly with clients via phone, email, and client portals in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor client portals and Morty Tracking Pages daily, updating information as appropriate.
  • Contribute to team success by supporting related tasks and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in foreclosure or mortgage-servicing operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to clients, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated customer-service skills, including professionalism, responsiveness, and the ability to resolve inquiries effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, especially when reviewing documents and updating case information.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and determine effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Access, with the ability to learn additional technology platforms as required.
