General Purpose:

As the Regional Sales Manager, you will lead the sales team to embrace and implement the AVE-PLP selling process, fostering a strong, cohesive culture. You will be responsible for achieving regional profitability targets, ensuring sustainable growth across all departments. Additionally, your focus will be on driving market penetration, customer retention, and competitive conversions, all while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The Regional Sales Manager reports to the General Manager.

The Regional Sales Manager will oversee our Valley Region - Abilene, KS, Clay Center, KS, Concordia, KS, and Wamego, KS.ย 

Essential Functions:

  • Build and refine the region sales team in alignment with our company DNA and sales culture of motivation, performance, and an โ€œanything is possibleโ€ attitude. Lead with technology.
  • Deliver clear expectations, motivation, coaching, accountability, and provide formal and informal feedback to sales staff through, but not limited to, JobTrack reviews.
  • Develop and implement the regionโ€™s sales annual operating plan (AOP).
  • Create focus and ensure our sales staff is prioritizing and making the proper space to work on the customersโ€™ business and not in the business as a service and technology support.
  • Build and maintain a highly professional and motivated sales team.
  • Be accountable for the performance of the regionโ€™s sales business in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Provide key sales initiatives and information updates to the region tactical review meetings of cross functional team members to track and measure progress against the regionโ€™s wholegoods performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure proper team members are part of the preparation, planning, and participation in customer sales conversations that start with ROI and performance data prior to delivering a price.
  • Redirect any activities that do not align with organization best practices, processes, policies, etcโ€ฆ in order to ensure we are leveraging the strengths of the team in the right areas.
    • This includes CRM utilization.
  • Manage regional discretionary budget to acquire new customers and maintain existing customers (Key Tactical contact with JD TBM).
  • Support Regional Operations Manager in contributing to weekly meeting of functional support team members to discuss progress against operational objectives and strategic initiatives. Report out and create clarity and alignment across the team, hold team members accountable for respective deliverables, encourage dialogue, debate, and collaboration.
  • Coordinate and lead monthly sales meetings (in-person).
  • Coordinate and lead daily huddles.
  • Build and open lines of communication between the retail locations and functional support team members to ensure the regionโ€™s customers are serviced and supported.
  • Promote the use of programs using customer targeting tools such as EDA data and equity alerts to proactively engage with customers through traditional and digital tools.
  • Work closely with Region Operations Manager to ensure region is on track to deliver against its respective aftermarket operational and strategic initiatives. Discuss and implement opportunities where team members can support initiatives.
  • Identify gaps in performance AND deliver potential solutions.
  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of AVE-PLPโ€™s DNA.
  • Strong knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes.
  • Solid communication skills. Can deal with and effectively resolve challenging issues.
  • Extremely organized, sensitive to deadlines and accessible based on business needs.
  • Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products, knowledge of agricultural equipment, and knowledge of farming and operational practices.
  • Must be driven to achieve results, highly attentive to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, in a high performance, fast paced environment without compromising quality.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Knowledge of current financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree, or higher, in an agricultural-related major or equivalent experience is required.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in an agricultural-related role with activities such as sales, training, or other related work. Prior experience with JD technology and equipment is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.
