Job Title: Site Installation Supervisor - Rail Systems
Work Type: Contract (1 year)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week
Location: Montreal, QC
Pay Rate: $50-$60 per hour
Position Summary
Our client, a global leader in the rail and transportation industry, is seeking a Site Installation Supervisor to oversee and coordinate on-site installation activities for large-scale rail systems deployment projects.
This role is responsible for supervising installation teams and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and installation procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, testing & commissioning teams, and client stakeholders to support successful project execution across signaling, telecom, and electrical systems environments.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Installation Management
- Supervise the installation of rail signaling, telecom, electrical, and train control systems at project sites
- Coordinate daily installation activities, work plans, manpower allocation, and site priorities
- Monitor installation progress against project schedules and ensure timely completion of milestones
- Ensure all installation work complies with engineering drawings, procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations
- Conduct regular site inspections and proactively resolve technical or operational issues
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, testing teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution
- Maintain accurate documentation including:
- Daily progress reports
- Quality inspections
- Installation records
- Site updates
- Ensure all installation drawings, documentation, and software releases are maintained at current revision levels
- Record and submit "as-built" information throughout project execution for documentation updates
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all employees and subcontractors comply with company Health & Safety policies and project safety requirements
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to all site-specific regulations and procedures
- Identify, report, and mitigate hazards proactively
Testing & Commissioning Support
- Support Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities and perform some PICO testing as required
- Assist with troubleshooting and validation activities during installation and commissioning phases
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 3-5 years of experience in rail systems installation, infrastructure deployment, or related industrial projects
- Experience with:
- Rail signaling systems
- Telecom systems
- Electrical installation activities
- Train control systems installation/testing
- Strong understanding of installation procedures, field coordination, and quality standards
- Familiarity with CENELEC standards and rail industry best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with task planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools
- Valid safety certifications (OSHA, First Aid, or equivalent)
- Fluency in English and French (written and verbal) is mandatory
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale rail or transportation deployment projects
- Knowledge of fiber optic and telecom systems
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
- Experience supporting testing & commissioning activities
- Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Support sustainability initiatives and responsible resource management

Additional Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors and in active construction/site environments
- Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 25 kg
- Must be comfortable working night shifts during critical project phases
- Must successfully pass background checks and comply with all site-specific access and safety requirements
