Job description

PositionDescription: Engineering Assistant

The EngineeringAssistant is involved inengineering and administration of projects, in the Special Projects Division(SPD) or in other Business Unit departments. 

Reports To:  Project Engineer or Engineer
EssentialDuties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in obtaining & reviewing information & approvals for processing of shop drawings, product data & samples.
  • Assist in the communication of this information across all levels of the project team.
  • Assist in managing other aspects of communication including submission & responses for Requests for Information (RFI's).
  • Assist in preparing estimates for changes in the work including review of Change Order requests from subcontractors.
  • Study contract drawings, specifications, & shop drawings to ensure proper coordination & installation.
  • Assist in the maintenance & updating of contract documents, electronic web-based documents, & project logs.
  • Distribute information required for construction to appropriate parties.
  • Assist engineering to ensure that materials & equipment are released for fabrication or manufacture in time to meet the construction schedule.
  • Assist in the preparation of final records for the project including close-out documents, Operations/Maintenance Manuals, etc.
  • If assigned to another Business Unit department, will perform the requisite duties & responsibilities.

Position Description: Field Engineer

The Field Engineer positionwill be assigned to the field operations team & will assist in obtaining,evaluating, & coordinating all information needed to construct the projectin accordance with the contract documents & to assure that the work meetsall safety standard, is within schedule requirements, & is constructed tothe highest level of quality possible.  The Field Engineer in the performance of its duties shall be responsiblefor the protection & promotion of the interest of Turner & all matters. 

Reports To:  Project Superintendent or Superintendent
Essential Duties &Responsibilities:

  • Perform line & grade work for building layout & control as required.
  • Assist in the implementation of the site safety program as required & ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner safety standards & all applicable safety codes & regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of contract documents & electronic web-based documents for field operations.
  • Assist in the preparation of Daily Construction Reports (DCR's).
  • Review all work as it is being placed to be sure it is accurate within accepted tolerances.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications & shop drawings to ensure proper coordination & installation.
  • Assist in the preparation of project as-builts.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
