This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Maverick Golf and Ranch Club, located in Fort Worth, Texas.
Maverick Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Irrigation Technician to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department. The Irrigation Technician will work closely with the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendents. They will be responsible for supervising and performing all golf course maintenance irrigation practices and repairs. The Irrigation Technician will be part of developing a brand new Tom Fazio designed golf course, and will be heavily involved in the quality control of irrigation installation performed by the contractor. The state of the art system will feature a two wire Toro Smarthub system, with HDPE piping and a 4500 GPM Watertronics pump station. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the new installation of irrigation system, ensuring quality control and contractor performance in accordance with the design and installation specifications

  • Responsible for maintaining and repairing the irrigation equipment for the golf course, which includes sprinklers, water lines, pumps, valves and electrical components.

  • Maintaining all irrigation systems by monitoring and evaluating overall performance of the irrigation system.

  • Inputs and maintains accurate data in the central control computer system.

  • Repairs sprinklers and pipes on the golf course, when needed, while regularly checking the conditions of the equipment, and keeping them clean and adjusted for the course.

  • Able to work without supervision on a range of irrigation maintenance on a day to day basis.

  • Maintains inventory of parts needed and associated with the irrigation system and orders new parts when needed.

  • Assists in precision hand watering of putting greens and other turf surfaces.

  • Aids in other day to day needs on the golf course maintenance team as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in golf course irrigation installation and repair.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operating golf course irrigation equipment.

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
