About the OpportunityWe are seeking a Radiochemist Project Manager to support a variety of environmental and nuclear-related projects throughout the Oak Ridge area. This position plays a critical role in ensuring analytical data quality, regulatory compliance, and technical accuracy across projects involving environmental monitoring, waste management, remediation, and decommissioning activities.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in radiochemistry with the ability to coordinate laboratory activities, review analytical data, and support project teams throughout the lifecycle of environmental investigations and cleanup efforts.
This is a full-time, onsite position located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary technical liaison between project teams and analytical laboratories
Coordinate radiochemical, inorganic, and organic laboratory analyses
Support environmental remediation, waste disposition, monitoring, and decommissioning projects
Develop and review Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs)
Participate in the Data Quality Objective (DQO) process
Assist with Data Management Implementation Plans (DMIPs)
Evaluate laboratory deliverables and analytical data quality
Validate analytical data and ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements
Provide technical guidance on radiochemistry and analytical chemistry issues
Monitor laboratory schedules, deliverables, and project status
Prepare technical summaries and communicate findings to project stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Radiochemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
5+ years of experience in analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, environmental laboratory operations, or data validation
Strong understanding of radiochemical analytical methods and laboratory quality assurance practices
Experience reviewing, interpreting, and validating analytical data
Ability to communicate complex technical information to multidisciplinary project teams
Strong organizational and project coordination skills
Advanced degree in a scientific discipline
Experience supporting CERCLA, DOE, DOD, EPA, or environmental remediation projects
Familiarity with National Functional Guidelines (NFGs)
Familiarity with MARLAP guidance and radiological laboratory protocols
Experience with environmental data quality programs and regulatory compliance
