What to Expect
The Quality Technician is responsible for performing, documenting, gauge calibration recall, receiving, in-process and final inspection gauging to ensure conformance to applicable requirements.
What You'll Do
  • Applies knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles, MSA, GR&R, Statistical Process Control (SPC) to ensure product gauging meets requirements.
  • Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors and Engineers.
  • Train other inspectors and technicians.
  • Participate in special projects related to tooling, fixtures, and gages.
  • Identifies cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
  • Assist with creation of instructions for using inspection tools and systems.
  • Provide inspection support to all departments in the organization, perform part inspection, and help with FAIs.

What You'll Bring
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of reading blueprints and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, surface plates, microscopes, profilometers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, data entry skill, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to foster positive relationships with all functional groups.
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • Understands travelers and work instructions.
  • Desire to learn and to apply new skills.
  • Problem solving ability with an organized & analytical approach.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to ever-changing fast-paced manufacturing demands.

Physical Requirements:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods.
  • Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting, and lifting to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass static strength requirements (grip).
  • Visual acuity including, but not limited to:
    • NEAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Use this factor when special and minute accuracy is demanded.
    • FAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Use this factor when visual efficiency in terms of far acuity is required in day and night/dark conditions.
    • DEPTH PERCEPTION - Three-dimensional vision. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are.
    • COLOR VISION - Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
    • FIELD OF VISION - Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
