About the Role:

The Quality Control Manager โ€“ Avionics is responsible for leading the Quality Control function and ensuring the highest standards of aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and product quality. This key leadership role is ideal for an experienced AME-E professional who is passionate about operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and developing high-performing quality teams.

Reporting

The Quality Control Manager reports directly to the Director of Quality.

Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Quality Control team, including SCA (Shop Certification Authority) and MCA (Manufacturing Certification Authority) personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Transport Canada requirements and company quality procedures.
  • Oversee in-process inspections, receiving inspections, final inspections, independent inspections, buy-backs and functional testing.
  • Review and approve maintenance releases, technical records and traceability documentation.
  • Provide quality oversight and technical support for aircraft maintenance, avionics modifications, manufacturing, and component repair activities
  • Lead internal quality audits and prepare for Transport Canada, customer and OEM audits.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver technical and certification training for ACA, SCA and MCA personnel.
  • Champion Safety Management System (SMS) principles and foster a proactive culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering and customers to resolve technical and quality issues.

Qualifications

  • Valid Canadian AME-E License
  • 10+ years of avionics maintenance, inspection or component overhaul experience
  • Previous ACA, SCA, MCA or equivalent certification authority experience preferred
  • Leadership experience managing quality, inspection or maintenance teams
  • Strong knowledge of Transport Canada CARs, AMO requirements and airworthiness regulations
  • Experience with quality systems, regulatory compliance, internal audits and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and MRO quality systems is considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication, coaching, organizational and decision-making skills

  • Experience working in AMO and MRO environments
  • Performed avionics installations, modifications, and troubleshooting
  • Maintained airworthiness, maintenance releases, and configuration control
  • Supported regulatory and customer audits
