Job description

The University of Southern California Imaging Genetics Center (http://igc.ini.usc.edu) - part of the USC Mark and Mary Stevens Institute for Neuroimaging and Informatics - in Marina del Rey, California is looking for a full-time Project Assistant.

Duties will focus on analyzing existing brain images to investigate Alzheimer's disease risk.

Required:

  • Candidate should be well-organized, careful, reliable, detail oriented, able to meet deadlines, and able to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Good knowledge of using spreadsheets.

Preferred:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn computer programming (e.g., passing a previous computer programming class).
  • Some knowledge of MATLAB, python, or bash scripting.
  • Some experience with MRI or PET analysis.

Major duties include analysis and quality control of structural brain images or amyloid and tau PET images, and data management and organization. Some basic computer programming will be needed to streamline and troubleshoot downloads and image analyses. The Project Assistant hired will become familiar with relevant brain anatomy and scientific papers and will learn how to process MRI and PET data using major available and in-house neuroimaging analysis software. This position would be great for candidates who would like to gain training and experience for a few years before eventually applying to a PhD program.

The hourly rate range for this position is $25.96 - $33.00.
