Job description

Temple University's College of Liberal Arts Psychology Department is searching for a Research Assistant!

Salary Range: $32,000 - $40,000

Position Summary 
The Memory Epigenetics and Addiction Laboratory at Temple University, directed by Dr. Mathieu Wimmer, is seeking a Research Assistant and technician to contribute to cutting edge behavioral neuroscience research as part of an NIH-funded project. The overarching goal of the research program is to better understand cell-type specific mechanisms that confer addiction vulnerability and/or resilience using animal models of substance use and opioid dependence.

The full-time Research Assistant will manage multiple aspects of the research process. The Research Assistant will collect, curate and maintain records of data, help analyze and disseminate the data related to the project. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for performing rodent surgical procedures and rodent behavioral assays. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for some administrative tasks, including ordering supplies for the lab, IACUC, IBC and EHRS protocol submission and revisions. The successful candidate will perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details
* This position is 100% On-Site.
* This position is grant funded

Required Education and Experience 
* B.A. or B.S. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or Engineering.
* At least six months of directly related work experience is required. 
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience 
* Experience with molecular biology techniques.
* Some experience managing or monitoring the work of others.
* Comfortable giving presentations to small groups.
* Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends to administer study protocols as necessary.

Required Skills and Abilities 
*Prior research experience in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field.
*Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with MS Office suite or similar spreadsheet, database, word processing and presentation software.
*Experience working with rodents and a wet lab setting.
*Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills.
*Strong project management, organizational, and planning skills.
