Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Inverter TechnologiesJob Description

This role focuses on supporting the development and industrialization of inverter technologies for advanced automotive powertrain applications. You will assist with prototype builds, investigate production-related issues, drive cost reduction initiatives, update and maintain engineering drawings, and manage associated documentation to support both product development and manufacturing. You will work under the guidance of a Senior Engineer while collaborating closely with design engineering teams and manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage activities for multiple engineering projects to ensure goals and objectives are achieved within defined timelines.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely technical communication for inverter programs between design teams in the United States, manufacturing sites, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with design engineering organizations in the United States and Japan to support existing design improvements, performance validation, and production launch activities for xEV inverters used in various automotive powertrain applications.
  • Create and update 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and other technical documentation such as CAE data and specifications to support product design and changes.
  • Maintain and update bills of material (BOM) and schematic drawings to ensure accurate configuration control for product development and production.
  • Provide on-site engineering support to internal and external inverter manufacturing sites during sample builds and mass production phases, addressing technical issues and supporting smooth production ramp-up.
  • Support product validation testing, including prototype build and test activities, and contribute to engineering deliverables throughout the development phase of the product life cycle.
  • Investigate production-related issues, identify root causes, and support implementation of corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Support and drive cost reduction activities aimed at lowering production costs and/or improving product quality and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to new product development efforts by applying mechanical design principles and using 3D design software to develop robust inverter components and assemblies.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 1 year of experience in 3D mechanical design.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D mechanical design and modeling.
  • Experience creating and interpreting 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles and practices, including tolerance analysis and GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
  • Ability to work with bills of material (BOM) and maintain accurate product structures.
  • Experience working with schematic drawings and technical documentation.
  • Ability to support product validation testing, prototype builds, and related engineering activities.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with design teams, manufacturing sites, and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks within defined timelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience is preferred for candidates seeking a more Senior-level contribution.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical design as it relates to inverter and automotive electronics products.
  • Experience with CATIA for 3D design and modeling.
  • Familiarity with CAE tools and methods for mechanical design and analysis.
  • Experience with new product development in an automotive or electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Background in supporting cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Prior experience collaborating with global engineering teams is an advantage.
