Role: Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager - Plumbing and Mechanical

Location: Oakland County, MI (Primary)

Travel: Metro Detroit Mid-Michigan as needed

About the Role

Our client is a growing plumbing and mechanical contractor seeking a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager to join their team. This role is ideal for both experienced PMs looking for ownership and impact, as well as motivated APMs ready to step into a larger role.

You will be responsible for managing mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout; ensuring execution aligns with schedule, budget, quality standards, and project cash flow requirements. Primary operations are based in Oakland County, with project work extending throughout Metro Detroit and Mid-Michigan.

What You'll Do

  • Manage projects from kickoff through completion

  • Estimate job costs and prepare bids

  • Define project scope, goals, and execution plans

  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, drawings, and procurement

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets

  • Actively manage project financials, including billing, cost tracking, and ensuring cash flow aligns with project and company needs

  • Communicate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and General Contractors

  • Identify risks, solve problems, and keep projects moving forward

  • Track milestones, long-lead items, and overall progress

  • Lead, support, and hold field teams accountable for performance
