Job description

Brandt Development Ltd. is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Regina, SK. In this role, you’ll take the lead on electrical building design, contributing to a wide range of new construction and renovation projects. You’ll be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs and drawings, preparing engineering reports and cost estimates, conducting site inspections, and supporting full project contract administration. Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Focus on building design. Responsible for the design and drafting of Electrical Engineering works associated with the construction of various new buildings and renovations projects
  • Responsible for the design and detailing of electrical elements for all projects, including plans, technical details, and specifications
  • Review and investigate preliminary engineering options during the planning and schematic design process
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants as necessary
  • Preparation of cost estimates, tender contract documents, and engineering reports
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed design calculations, layouts, sketches, and specifications which meet Brandt’s needs, and which comply with sound engineering practices and standards
  • Investigate field and design items to prepare reports
  • Review, evaluate, and improve upon Engineering designs, drafting, schematics, and specifications
  • Perform Electrical design calculations as required
  • Prepare Revit/AutoCAD drawings for electrical systems including layouts, schematics, and construction details
  • Perform the design and produce drawings for building electrical systems (lighting, power, data, etc.)
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, and contractors
  • Complete site inspections during construction phase, coordinate and follow-up on project items
  • Perform the contract administration (CA) duties on the projects including attending meetings, travel as required, submittal reviews, supplemental instructions, price requests, site inspection reports, meeting minutes and all other aspects of the projects
  • Collaborate with other internal design disciplines (i.e. Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Civil and Interior Design) to ensure proper coordination and project success
  • Project cost monitoring and schedule control as requested
  • Knowledge of National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), Electrical Codes, and industry practice & regulations/applicable Codes having jurisdiction
  • Knowledge of Lighting Analysis software is an asset
  • Proficiency with Revit & AutoCAD software is required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • LEED® AP Certification would be an asset

Required Experience
  • Must have experience with AutoDesk Revit and AutoCAD software
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Consulting Office preferred
  • Must have Electrical Engineering degree
  • Must be licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan, or other Canadian Provinces. 
  • Candidates will be required to work on multiple projects in multiple Provinces, and collaborate with a team of Architects, Engineers and Technologists
  • Good written & verbal communication skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm and driven to succeed in a positive environment.
