Your Opportunity
The Interior Designer - Healthcare will help lead and mentor colleagues within the interior design team and work collaboratively with architectural teams, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and finishes, specifications, FFE and signage. AS an Interior Designer you will be working on projects in the healthcare sector.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • For smaller projects on which Interior Design is the prime consultant, you may manage projects and schedules by overseeing administrative aspects of the projects, including but not limited to: coordinating client and consultant contract negotiations, project set-up, invoicing, project planning, project staff scheduling
  • When required, participate in development of the program and other pre-design efforts
  • Participate in workshop discussions and activities with clients to ascertain cultural and desired project outcomes
  • Oversee and lead teams in developing space planning, block planning, and adjacency diagrams in coordination with building program
  • Oversee and lead teams in developing the interior design, material palette and FFE through sketches, digital/BIM models, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent and coordinate with Design Architect
  • Understanding of BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of interiors and their components
  • Participate in design critiques and pin-ups
  • Work with outside consultants to coordinate drawings sets
  • Ensure design complies with building codes and sustainability requirements such as LEED, and accessibility guidelines as required per project type
  • Evaluate and select interior systems and materials, finishes and fixtures
  • Coordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent and implementation of sustainable design principles
  • Develop interior design in accordance with cost parameters and ensure interior design intent is maintained through documentation and construction
  • Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating
  • Complete FFE scope tasks from design and selection through bid, coordinating with specific client and project needs
  • Adherence to Stantec's required QA/QC process, including design reviews
  • Adherence to Stantec's required internal and external project auditing process
  • Where required, participate in business development activities and project interviews
  • Where required, lead project proposals and RFP responses, and support larger proposals
  • Mentor and work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the profession and the firm

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Thorough knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes
  • Thorough understanding of all phases of architectural document production through construction administration and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects and multiple teams simultaneously
  • Ability to create project plans and schedules
  • Accountability to project profitability
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Management of team deliverables with client expectations and requirements
  • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program
  • Ability to develop floor plans, elevations, and details
  • Ability to check teams work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of document production
  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material. To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written)
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Bluebeam
  • Strong client management skills and internal team managerial skills
  • Excellent presentation abilities, including ability to present abstract ideas to the client
  • Strong communication skills

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in interior design
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in interior design, Healthcare experience required
  • Project Management certification preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
