Job description

Our Houston regional office is looking for an EPC-Project Manager to join our growing operations supporting the oil, gas, and chemical industries. The EPC-Project Manager is accountable for the full performance of every phase of a project or a group of projects in the refining, midstream, and petrochemical industries, including the strategic and tactical planning, directing, supervising, and controlling of all technical, fiscal, and administrative contractual functions, for both home office and site.

This person will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing multi-office engineering disciplines, procurement, project controls, construction management, and subcontractors to deliver major EPC/CM projects from front-end engineering, through detailed design, procurement, construction, handover, and close-out.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple disciplines, and ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
  • Develop project execution plans for safety, project staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and establish critical project objectives, applying your leadership skills to manage clients and internal change.
  • Manage the production of engineering deliverables for all phases of the project (FEL through Detail Design), procurement of engineered equipment and bulk materials, administration of construction activities and subcontracts, and the overall safety, cost, schedule, & quality of assigned projects.
  • Manage schedules, recognize critical paths, drive estimating cadence and actively monitor and report trends and cost impacts
  • Encourage and implement successful workshare execution for all engineering and project services scopes.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating, solving problems, and managing risks.
  • Provide performance feedback to department managers for project team members as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the project review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with prospective and existing client personnel at all levels of management.
  • Support continuous improvement of project management execution systems, work processes, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited curriculum.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in the refining/petrochemical industry, including 10 or more years managing EPC projects.
  • Field/Site work experience preferred.
  • Early-phase FEL experience highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry contracts on project-related matters.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional Registration / Certification preferred.
  • 20% travel to project and client sites or as necessary for project execution.
